drug interactions and side effects

No matter how careful the clinical trials and the work of the development pharmacists who produce the final version of any drug, it is not possible to produce something that everyone can take without any adverse side effects. All prescription-only drugs are designed to have a particular effect on the human body. In some people, the actual effect produced is not quite what is expected. There is a compromise where the hoped-for benefits usually outweigh the few cases of adverse side effects. In the case of cialis, there are only effects in 1 or 2% of men at lower dosages. The few unlucky enough to experience these effects accept them as a small price to pay for restored sexual activity. Less than 1% of men are at risk of the more serious effects

Cialis and alcohol

Both reduce the blood pressure. The more alcohol you drink, the more quickly blood pressure may drop. There is no hard-and-fast rule. The amount of alcohol that will produce more serious consequences will vary depending on your physical size and whether you are drinking on an empty or full stomach. As a general rule, it is unwise to drink more than two units of alcohol. If you feel unexpectedly light-headed or dizzy, find a headache coming on and feel your heartbeat increasing, stop drinking. If the symptoms do not diminish after an hour, go to the nearest emergency room.

Less serious symptoms

The most common symptoms are a headache, a blocked nose, indigestion and blushing (being embarrassing rather than painful). These are mild and generally fade after an hour or so. They are more common if you take higher dosages of 15 or 20mg. Over time, your body is likely to develop a tolerance for the drug and the risk of the side effects reduces. But if the symptoms grow more serious and develop into more painful conditions, this could be a sign you are developing an allergic reaction and you should stop taking the drug until proper tests can be performed.

More serious symptoms

If you experience a more violent allergic reaction on your skin with a rash, sweating and pain in your shoulder or chest, this is an emergency and you should get help immediately. Similarly, if any of the mild symptoms grow more serious with the headache worsening, dizziness, or feeling faint, the indigestion develops into nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, or you begin to experience difficulty in breathing and pain in your limbs, this is also a sign of danger.

In one or two rare cases, there has been loss of vision or of hearing. Although the FDA has issued a directive to require the labels to carry a warning about this risk, there is still no positive evidence to link these events with cialis. The speculation is that the effect of the erectile drugs on PDE is sometimes less specific and affects the type of PDE that regulates the eyes. But this remains unproven.

Finally, if you experience priapism (an unnaturally long and increasingly painful erection), this requires urgent treatment if you are to avoid long-lasting damage to your penis.
